The USCGC Active is a 210' Reliance Class patrol cutter with primary missions of SAR and Law Enforcement. These cutters can land helicopters, but are unable to carry or maintain them. The Active was commissioned in 1965 and underwent a modernization program in the mid/late 1980's, which included upgraded crew quarters, firefighting system, electronics and climate control systems. The Active has a crew of 74 and a top speed of 18 knots and is currently home ported in Port Angeles. The patch shows the cutter with a large eagle and a moutainous background.
