The CGC Mariposa was commissioned in 1944 as a Seagoing Buoy Tender. These ships maintain buoys and other navigational aids in coastal waters. The Mariposa was 180 feet long, had a crew of 53 and was decommissioned in 2000. The patch is the last used design with a rocker commemorating the decommissioning crew. The cutter is shown on the patch with killer whales above the ship.
